The AFRIMA Lagos turnout was announced at the Welcome Soirée for nominees and guests held at the Residence of the British Deputy High Commissioner, which formally opened the annual awards week.

AFRIMA President and Executive Producer Mike Dada said the scale of participation reflected the growing strength and global pull of African music.

Mike Dada said the arrivals include 732 artistes and managers, 301 delegates from Africa and the diaspora, and 183 technical production specialists supporting the event.

Mike Dada said the volume of visitors demonstrates the economic value of the creative industry and the tourism potential of Lagos.

Mike Dada said AFRIMA views music as a force for integration, peace and economic development across Africa and beyond.

British Deputy High Commissioner Jonny Baxter said African music now dominates global charts and that the United Kingdom remains committed to deepening partnerships with African creative industries.

Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture Toke Benson-Awoyinka said Lagos continues to position itself as Africa’s cultural capital and a city where creativity can scale globally.

Mike Dada thanked the Lagos State Government and partners including First Bank, Guinness, Glenfiddich, the Swedish Government and the United Kingdom Government for supporting the event.
