Adeniyi Johnson warns fans over UK impersonator account and urges the public to ignore fraudulent messages targeting his identity

Nigerian actor and film producer Adeniyi Johnson issued a public alert on Tuesday, 28 April 2026, in Lagos, warning fans about a fraudulent UK-based account attempting to use his identity for deceptive communications and business proposals.

Adeniyi Johnson, a Nollywood actor and producer, disclosed the matter after receiving a screenshot of a conversation linked to a UK number falsely claiming to represent him.

He firmly denied any association with the individual and described the activity as an attempt to mislead the public.

The actor clarified that the phone number in question does not belong to him. He also stated that he does not currently have a manager or personal assistant handling his affairs.

Johnson urged the public to disregard any messages or business requests originating from the fake account.

He further called on fans to report the number and block any associated accounts, stressing that continued impersonation could harm his reputation and confuse unsuspecting individuals.

Johnson emphasised that his identity was being misused without consent and described the act as damaging and unacceptable.

The incident reflects a wider pattern of online impersonation affecting Nigerian entertainers, where fraudulent accounts often target public figures to exploit their fan base and professional credibility.

Singer Portable’s partner, Ashabi, previously raised similar concerns after discovering accounts using her name and image to defraud members of the public.

She appealed to fans to report suspicious profiles and avoid engagement.

Actor Bolanle Ninalowo has also spoken out against repeated impersonation across social media platforms, questioning how such accounts continue to circulate despite verification systems.

Actress Bimpe Akintunde has likewise condemned scammers for misusing her identity, warning of the reputational damage caused.

Actor Alesh Sanni once revealed efforts to confront an alleged impersonator linked to fraudulent activity, describing the issue as a growing concern within the entertainment industry.
