Adebutu made the declaration while delivering his acceptance speech before party leaders, executives and supporters, insisting that the opposition party was united behind his candidacy and determined to reclaim Ogun State at the polls.
He expressed optimism that the 2027 election would mark a turning point, stating that votes would count and translate into electoral victory for the Peoples Democratic Party.
The former House of Representatives member and PDP candidate for the 2023 governorship election thanked party stakeholders for once again rallying behind him as consensus candidate.
Adebutu said he remained confident that electoral processes would reflect the will of the people in the forthcoming election.
He also alleged that the PDP won the 2023 governorship election in Ogun State at the ballot but was denied victory due to manipulation, adding that the party was now focused on ensuring every vote counts in 2027.
Adebutu criticised the All Progressives Congress administration in Ogun State, which has governed the state for over a decade and a half under different political arrangements.
He accused the ruling party of mismanagement and said the state had been placed under economic strain despite its vast human and natural resources.
According to him, Ogun State deserves more responsive leadership capable of improving livelihoods and addressing growing hardship.
The PDP candidate urged unity among party members, stressing that all aspirants who stepped down for him remain important to the party’s success.
He described the outcome of the consensus process as a collective victory and called for continued cooperation ahead of the general election.
Adebutu also noted that the party’s policy direction for the state would be unveiled in due course, while urging supporters to maintain peace and discipline during the campaign season.
Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose commended the turnout at the event, describing it as a sign of strong party cohesion across all 20 local government areas of Ogun State.
He encouraged members to sustain unity and maintain momentum ahead of the election.
In a separate remark, PDP chieftain Chief Toyin Amuzu described Adebutu as a credible and experienced leader capable of addressing the state’s development challenges.
Amuzu said Adebutu’s track record in community development, youth empowerment and constituency support demonstrated his readiness for leadership.
