Yul Edochie’s co-parenting update confirmed as legal expert Emeka Ugwuonye says actor and estranged wife May are fulfilling parental obligations
Yul Edochie co-parenting update has been confirmed by prominent lawyer Emeka Ugwuonye, who revealed that the Nollywood actor and his estranged wife, May Edochie, are now cooperating effectively in raising their children, despite ongoing tensions and separation.

In a statement shared on Instagram, Ugwuonye emphasised that co-parenting is both a moral expectation and a legal duty when children are involved.
He disclosed that the couple are meeting their respective parental obligations and that Yul Edochie has continued to support their children financially and emotionally.
“Yes, May and Yul have children together. They will co-parent. Why is that driving anybody crazy?” Ugwuonye wrote.
“Yul is contributing to the children’s school fees and supporting them as well, so he has unlimited access to the kids. That is what co-parenting entails.”
The update comes amid public speculation surrounding the couple’s strained relationship, particularly after Yul Edochie’s controversial union with actress Judy Austin.
However, Ugwuonye made it clear that while the relationship between May and Yul remains strained, both parties are maintaining a level of communication necessary for the well-being of their children.
“If they do not speak to each other, they cannot co-parent effectively,” he added, noting that successful co-parenting demands cooperation and mutual understanding.
The legal expert also clarified Judy Austin’s current legal position regarding May’s children.
Yul is contributing to the children’s school fees and supporting them as well, so he has unlimited access to the kids. That is what co-parenting entails.
“There is no basis for any cooperation between May and Judy. However, if Judy eventually gets married to Yul, that will make her a stepmother to the children,” Ugwuonye explained.
The revelation appears to be an attempt to temper public backlash and gossip surrounding the Edochie family’s private affairs, which have been the subject of wide media attention in recent months.
Ugwuonye’s comments serve to underscore the legal rights and responsibilities that remain in place between separated or divorced couples, especially where children are concerned.
His statement aims to shift the public’s focus from sensational narratives to the practical realities of post-separation parenting.
“Whatever their emotional differences, the law is clear. Parents must provide for their children and act in their best interest,” he concluded.
Yul and May Edochie’s marital issues became public after the actor introduced Judy Austin as his second partner and later welcomed a child with her.
The move ignited heated debate and drew widespread criticism, especially from fans sympathetic to May, who has maintained a dignified silence for much of the controversy.
