Wema Bank celebrates International Women’s Day 2025 with events focused on innovation and financial inclusion, reinforcing its commitment to gender equality
[dropcap]W[/dropcap]ema Bank, Nigeria’s most innovative financial institution and pioneer of Africa’s first fully digital bank, ALAT, has unveiled its plans for International Women’s Day (IWD) 2025.

The event, scheduled for Tuesday, March 11, 2025, in Lagos, aligns with the global IWD 2025 theme, “Accelerate Action.”
It will bring together leading women from various industries to discuss how innovation and technology can drive financial inclusion for women.
The event will feature a panel discussion titled **“Harnessing Innovation & Technology to Accelerate Financial Inclusion for Women.”
** Industry leaders will explore how digital advancements can empower women financially, ensuring sustainable inclusion in Nigeria’s evolving economy.
Beyond discussions, Wema Bank’s IWD 2025 celebration will highlight initiatives like:
- The Big Sister Project – Recognising beneficiaries of Wema Women Network’s mentorship programme.
HeForShe Awards – Honouring male employees who have actively supported women empowerment in the workplace.
These initiatives are designed to inspire action, encouraging more individuals and organisations to contribute to gender equality efforts.
Wema Bank’s dedication to women empowerment extends beyond International Women’s Day.
As part of its Women’s Month initiatives, the bank has curated activities aimed at supporting women across Nigeria.
These include:
- Wema Bank 5 for 5 Promo Season 4 – A special women’s month draw where 131 women will receive a total of ₦11 million in cash rewards.
Wema Women Network (WWN) Outreach – A mentorship and empowerment initiative for young female students at the secondary school level.
