The Nigerian striker, 26, recently completed a sensational loan spell at Galatasaray, scoring 37 goals and contributing eight assists in just 41 appearances.
His blistering form has reignited interest from top European clubs, with Liverpool now believed to be leading the race for his signature.
According to British outlet Caught Offside, Liverpool are preparing to initiate formal negotiations with Napoli during the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Reds are reportedly considering Osimhen as a potential replacement for Darwin Núñez, who has drawn interest from Saudi clubs and several European sides following an underwhelming season.
“Liverpool want to sign him (Osimhen) this summer, and they are looking at other attacking options as well,” a source told Caught Offside.
“It remains to be seen whether they come forward with an offer to sign the Napoli striker. He is unwanted at the Italian club, and the Italian champions will look to sell him in the summer.”
Osimhen’s contract at Napoli reportedly includes a release clause of around £63 million an appealing figure for a striker of his calibre.
Moreover, there are suggestions the Nigerian international is open to a move to Anfield, which could ease negotiations.
Despite being under contract with Napoli, Osimhen is expected to return to Naples only to sort out his future, with both Manchester United and Chelsea also monitoring his situation.
Liverpool, under new head coach Arne Slot, are actively reshaping their squad. Dutch full-back Jeremie Frimpong has already joined the club from Bayer Leverkusen in a £29.5 million deal, while a record-breaking £105 million bid has been tabled for German star Florian Wirtz. Meanwhile, long-serving right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has completed a £10 million transfer to Real Madrid.
As the Reds look to bounce back from a disappointing campaign, Osimhen’s clinical finishing, pace, and physicality could be just what Liverpool need to regain their edge up front. However, the competition for his signature remains fierce, with other Premier League clubs circling.

Liverpool are also exploring alternatives, including Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško, and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike, as they weigh up options to replace Núñez, who scored just seven goals in all competitions last season.
