The UBA Foundation aid programme distributed essential food items, school materials and cash support worth several millions of naira and dollars to schoolchildren, orphanages, internally displaced persons camps and low income communities.
The outreach, which ran between November 2025 and January 2026, reached more than 100,000 beneficiaries, with the foundation describing the effort as a response to the financial strain typically experienced at the end of the year and the start of a new one.
In Nigeria, the intervention spanned every region of the country, reaching orphanages, homes and displacement camps in states including Lagos, Abia, Ebonyi, Oyo, Edo, Akwa Ibom, Kogi, Niger, Borno, Taraba, Kebbi and Jigawa.
Beneficiary institutions included the Destitute Home Okobaba in Lagos, IDP camps in Borno and Niger states, and several orphanage homes providing care to vulnerable children and young adults.
Across Africa, similar support was delivered in countries such as Ghana, Kenya, Senegal, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Uganda, Tanzania and Zambia, extending the foundation’s footprint to 20 African nations where UBA operates.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of UBA Foundation, Bola Atta, personally visited some beneficiary centres, including the Destitute Home Okobaba in Lagos, where she presented non perishable food items and educational materials to residents.
Bola Atta said the foundation’s work was driven by a conviction that development must be sustained and inclusive, regardless of geography or economic status.
“At UBA Foundation, we believe that true development begins with compassion and action,” Bola Atta said.
“Through our Food Bank and Giving Back initiatives, we are restoring hope and creating pathways for children and families to learn, grow and thrive.”
She added that proper nutrition and access to learning materials were essential to cognitive development and long term wellbeing, describing the interventions as both immediate relief and an investment in the future.
The foundation’s humanitarian outreach forms part of a broader tradition of philanthropy that includes education, environmental sustainability and economic empowerment programmes such as the National Essay Competition, Read Africa Project, health outreaches and youth development initiatives.
