President Bola Ahmed Tinubu arrived at Mapo Hall, Ibadan, on Thursday morning, leading an entourage of high-profile dignitaries to honour the coronation of the respected former governor of Oyo State.
The ceremony, which marks the formal ascension of Oba Rashidi Ladoja, comes after the death of Oba Owolabi Olakulehin on July 7, 2025.
Ladoja, an influential political figure and astute businessman, was unanimously selected by the Olubadan-in-Council, following traditional succession processes.
Other guests in attendance include serving and former governors, senators, House of Representatives members, traditional rulers from across the Southwest, and notable figures from all walks of life, signalling the national importance of the occasion.
The historic Mapo Hall — often regarded as the political and cultural heartbeat of Ibadan — was filled with colour, chants, drumming and pageantry as Yoruba tradition took centre stage.
Tinubu attends Olubadan coronation not just as a political leader but as a son of the soil, further underlining the significance of the Olubadan stool within the Yoruba hierarchy and its influence on national identity.
