Super Eagles camp reaches 13 players as Nigeria prepares for 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa in crucial Group C ties
Super Eagles camp in Ikot Ekpene has grown to 13 players as Nigeria steps up preparations for its upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa.

This follows the arrival of nine additional players on Tuesday, joining the initial four who reported on Monday, according to the team’s media officer, Promise Efoghe.
The latest to arrive include:
- Alex Iwobi
- Calvin Bassey
- Fisayo Dele-Bashiru
- Ola Aina
- Bright Osayi-Samuel
- Moses Simon
- Chidozie Awaziem
- Adebayo Adeleye
- Benjamin Fredericks
These players join early arrivals William Troost-Ekong, Amas Obasogie, Felix Agu, and Raphael Onyedika.
Efoghe confirmed that 13 out of the 23 invited players are now in camp, with the remaining 10 expected to arrive later today or early tomorrow.
Efoghe also outlined the media plan for the week:
- Wednesday: Press conference with coaching staff and selected players at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium training pitch.
- Friday: Pre-match press conference at the same venue. The first 15 minutes of training will be open to media.

Nigeria will host Rwanda this Friday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo (Matchday 7), followed by an away game against South Africa in Bloemfontein on Monday (Matchday 8).
The Super Eagles currently sit third in Group C with two points from two games, trailing group leaders South Africa and Rwanda, who each have four points.
With only the top team in the group qualifying automatically for the 2026 World Cup, these two fixtures are critical for Nigeria’s chances.
