The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has paid tribute to Senator Anthony Adefuye, a prominent member of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), describing him as a “national treasure” as he celebrates his 80th birthday on Wednesday, August 14, 2024.
In a congratulatory message conveyed through his Chief Press Secretary, Eromosele Ebhomele, Speaker Obasa lauded Senator Adefuye for his humility, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to the growth of the younger generation and the advancement of Nigeria.
“One beautiful thing about Senator Adefuye is his humility despite his age. You can’t fail to notice the way he mentors the young, encourages them, and creates opportunities for their growth,” Obasa remarked.
He further highlighted Senator Adefuye’s significant role in Nigerian politics, particularly his involvement in the June 12 struggle following the annulment of MKO Abiola’s presidential victory. Obasa noted that Senator Adefuye’s contributions have left an indelible mark on the history of both Lagos and Nigeria.
“As a member of the GAC of Lagos State, Senator Adefuye is a respected leader with a very positive mindset. He is never found dawdling when there is a need to contribute to issues of state and national development,” the Speaker added.
Obasa expressed his admiration for Senator Adefuye’s knowledge, wisdom, and lively spirit, stating that the octogenarian continues to play a vital role in the progress of Lagos and Nigeria.
“On behalf of my family and colleagues at the Lagos State House of Assembly, I celebrate the octogenarian and pray that God will continue to grant him good health, wisdom, and the capacity to play more roles for the progress of Lagos and Nigeria,” Obasa concluded.
