Anambra State under Governor Soludo builds five new hospitals, rehabilitates 130+ health centres, and improves access to free, modern healthcare services
Anambra State’s health sector has undergone a significant transformation under Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration.

Within three years, the state has constructed five new general hospitals and rehabilitated over 130 existing facilities, including primary healthcare centres.
Health Commissioner Dr Afam Obidike, during a media tour of newly completed health facilities like the Solution Trauma Centre in Awka, highlighted the administration’s commitment to accessible, quality healthcare.
The new hospitals include Okpoko General Hospital (Ogbaru LGA), Solution Specialist Hospital (Fegge, Onitsha South LGA), Solution Rehabilitation Centre (Nibo, Awka South LGA), Ekwulobia General Hospital (Aguata LGA), and Solution General Hospital (Anaku, Ayamelum LGA).
Many hospitals now feature solar-powered electricity, steady water supply, 30kV generators, and digitalized systems, including telemedicine.
Free antenatal care, childbirth, and surgical services are offered, while 1,500 health workers have been recruited and 40 functional ambulance stations established.
The administration aims to position Anambra as a medical hub comparable to India within five years.
Projects like the refurbished Nibo Rehabilitation Centre and Anambra Eye Care Centre in Nise showcase modern facilities, skills acquisition units, and world-class standards.
Community leaders praised the state government for delivering functional healthcare infrastructure, debunking claims of inactive hospitals.

The media tour also featured live demonstrations of free surgeries and childbirths under the state’s healthcare programs, highlighting Soludo’s commitment to improving lives.
