The decision was announced during a strategic meeting at the district office between the District Awareness Committee led by Rotarian David Olusegun and the District Governor, Rotarian Lanre Adedoyin.
Discussions focused on enhancing Rotary’s public image through the formal adoption of Rotary Day, plans for a proposed Peace Park and the placement of Rotary awareness billboards at key locations within the district.
Rotarian Lanre Adedoyin commended the committee’s initiative and stressed the need to obtain approvals from relevant government agencies before installing billboards and executing outdoor campaigns.
Rotarian Lanre Adedoyin said the period leading to 4 April presented a crucial opportunity to demonstrate Rotary’s impact through visible action and sustained engagement with the public.
Rotarian David Olusegun thanked the District Governor for the confidence reposed in the committee and reaffirmed its commitment to delivering on its mandate.
Rotarian David Olusegun disclosed that a major highlight of Rotary Day would be the selection and decoration of Rotary Ambassadors from each of the district’s 86 clubs to recognise members who exemplify Rotary values and service.
He said each club would nominate a representative to serve as the face of the club, adding that the ambassadors’ footprints would be etched at the proposed Peace Park once completed.
Funds were raised during the meeting to support Rotary Day activities, while sub committees were constituted to ensure effective planning and execution.
The delegation also paid a courtesy visit to Rotary Radio as part of efforts to strengthen media partnerships and outreach ahead of the event.
