The event comes one year after the fintech company launched its landmark ₦1.2 billion 10-Year Scholarship Programme — a key component of its social impact strategy aimed at supporting tertiary education and nurturing future leaders.
According to OPay, the conference will bring together key voices from academia, industry, and the media to reflect on the progress made since the scholarship’s inception and explore collaborative strategies to scale its impact across the country.
In its first year, the ₦1.2 billion OPay Scholarship Programme has partnered with 20 tertiary institutions nationwide, reaching hundreds of students across all six geopolitical zones.
Beneficiaries have received financial support covering tuition, accommodation, and essential study materials — a significant step in reducing the economic barriers to higher education.
The 2025 conference will also witness the unveiling of the OPay CyberLab Initiative, a new project focused on expanding digital literacy and innovation hubs within Nigerian universities.
Additionally, the company will spotlight its Graduate Recruitment Initiative, designed to connect top-performing graduates with employment opportunities within OPay’s fast-growing ecosystem.
“At OPay, our belief is simple — access to quality education and technology creates lasting change,” said Elizabeth Wang, the company’s Chief Commercial Officer. “Through the Scholarship Programme, Graduate Recruitment, and now the CyberLab Initiative, we’re helping young Nigerians turn potential into purpose.”
She added that the Empowering Futures Conference represents not just a celebration of milestones but also a renewed call for greater collaboration in driving sustainable youth development.
Established in 2018, OPay has grown into one of Nigeria’s leading financial technology institutions, offering a broad range of payment services including money transfers, bill payments, airtime and data purchases, card services, and merchant solutions.
Licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and insured by the NDIC, the firm continues to champion financial inclusion through technology-driven innovation.
