First Lady Oluremi Tinubu commissions Oluremi Tinubu Dream Center at OAU, Ife, handing over 50 shuttle buses and 40 tricycles to students

The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Thursday 29 January 2026, commissioned the Oluremi Tinubu Dream Center at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, calling on Nigerian youths to dream big and pursue their goals diligently.

The state-of-the-art digital library, built in her honour by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and digitalised by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), features a mentorship room, library, digital museum, innovation hub, studio, tech garden, and a dedicated dream room.

Senator Tinubu described the centre as a milestone in her efforts to inspire future generations.

“The Ooni wanted young girls to come here to learn a bit of how I got here. I have always dreamt of being a teacher and I actually achieved that dream. But I did not just stop, I kept on dreaming, and here I am today,” she said.

She further encouraged students to pursue their ambitions: “These sections come together as one, reflecting the power of dream, imagination and inspiration as a force for change and personal growth. I call on youth to visit the centre, build their dreams and pursue it without being overly ambitious.”

In his remarks, Oba Ogunwusi highlighted the First Lady’s enduring legacy.

“The mother of the nation has done so much for humanity over two decades. What was once built as a pavilion for students has now been upgraded to serve a higher purpose, an innovative space where Nigerian youth can dare to dream.”

Senator Tinubu also fulfilled a previous promise to the university, handing over 50 new shuttle buses and 40 tricycles to improve campus transport and student welfare.

This intervention follows her donation of one billion Naira to the institution in October 2024, reinforcing her commitment to education and youth development.
