Mrs Oluranti Akinyemi dies unexpectedly in the UK while attending her son’s graduation; family seeks support for repatriation, medical, and funeral expenses

The family of Mrs Oluranti Olufunmilayo Esther Akinyemi (née Oluwalana/Ogundana) has announced her sudden passing in the United Kingdom, just hours after arriving to attend her son’s graduation ceremony.

Mrs Akinyemi, who travelled to the UK on February 17, 2026, reportedly suffered a sudden cardiac arrest during the night and was rushed to Luton and Dunstable Hospital.

Despite intensive care and three days on life support, she was declared clinically dead.

The tragedy, which struck less than 20 hours after her arrival, has transformed what was meant to be a joyous family celebration into a period of deep grief.

The family is seeking urgent support to:

Repatriate Mrs Akinyemi’s body to Nigeria for burial

Settle outstanding medical bills in the UK

Cover funeral expenses

They have appealed to well-wishers to assist with donations, prayers, and sharing the appeal, emphasising that every contribution, no matter the size, will be deeply appreciated.

“This was completely unexpected. No words can capture our grief, but your support will help us honour her memory and navigate this difficult time,” the family said in a statement.
