Oando Tertiary Scholarship Scheme

The Oando Joint Venture (NNPC E&P/Oando Energy Resources) announces its 2025/2026 Tertiary Scholarship Scheme for host communities and nationwide undergraduates in key disciplines, demonstrating its strong commitment to CSR and education

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Oando Joint Venture (JV), comprising NNPC Exploration and Production Limited (NEPL) and Oando Energy Resources Nigeria Limited (OERNL), has commenced the application process for its 2025/2026 Tertiary Scholarship Scheme.

This initiative reflects the JV’s ongoing commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and aims to support the academic ambitions of undergraduate students in Nigerian tertiary institutions, fostering the development of future leaders.

The scholarship application portal opened on Thursday, March 27, 2025, and will close on Wednesday, April 30, 2025. The scheme offers two distinct categories of awards:

The Host Communities Merit Award, specifically for students who are indigenes of Oando’s host communities in Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta, and Imo States; and the National Merit Award, open to eligible students from across Nigeria (excluding Oando’s host communities) pursuing degrees in Engineering, Geology, Geosciences, and Agricultural Sciences.

This inclusive structure ensures that talented students from diverse backgrounds have the opportunity to benefit.

Eligibility criteria require applicants to be registered full-time 100-level undergraduates in a Nigerian tertiary institution at the time of application.

This scholarship program underscores Oando’s unwavering commitment to investing in the future of Nigeria, particularly its host communities, and contributing to the development of the country’s human capital,” the Oando Joint Venture stated in its announcement.

The scheme explicitly excludes 200-level students and above, current recipients of similar scholarships from other organizations, and dependents of Oando PLC and its subsidiaries’ staff.

This scholarship program underscores Oando’s deep-seated commitment to investing in the future of Nigeria, with a particular focus on its host communities.

By prioritizing education, a cause championed through its foundation, Oando Foundation, the company aims to empower young Nigerians with the essential skills and knowledge for future success, viewing this as a critical component of its social responsibility and contribution to sustainable development.

The selection process will include an online aptitude test for shortlisted candidates, who will be required to achieve a minimum score of 50% to be considered. The results of the aptitude test will be published on noticeboards in all Oando locations nationwide.

The Tertiary Scholarship Scheme, which was initiated by the Joint Venture in the 1992/1993 academic session and currently supports over 350 beneficiaries, continues following Oando’s acquisition of Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC)’s interests in August 2024.

This continuation highlights the company’s steadfast commitment to the well-being of its host communities and its role in nurturing Nigeria’s next generation of talent.

Interested and qualified students are encouraged to apply before the deadline by visiting candidate.scholastica.ng/schemes/oandoscholarship2025.

As a proudly indigenous company with a predominantly Nigerian workforce, Oando recognizes the pivotal role of quality education in developing the nation’s future talent pool and believes this scholarship program will empower young Nigerians to contribute meaningfully to the country’s growth and prosperity.
