The Lagos school bomb threat arrest was disclosed on Tuesday by the Commissioner of Police, Olorundare Moshood Jimoh, during a briefing with journalists at the Command Headquarters in Ikeja on recent security operations across the state.
Jimoh said the suspect was taken into custody following intelligence-led investigations triggered by threatening messages sent to the affected schools, which caused anxiety among parents, staff and students.
According to the police commissioner, the command acted swiftly after receiving reports of the threats, deploying officers to secure the schools while digital forensic efforts traced the messages to the suspect.
He described the arrest as a decisive response aimed at safeguarding public safety, particularly within educational institutions, which remain sensitive and high-priority environments.
Jimoh warned that the police would not tolerate acts capable of causing panic or disrupting public order, stressing that hoax threats could divert critical security resources and endanger lives.
The commissioner said investigations were ongoing to establish the suspect’s motive and determine whether others were involved in sending the messages.
