Lagos State Commissioner Tokunbo Wahab mourns victims of the tragic Epe accident, urging community support and road safety advocacy.
[dropcap]I[/dropcap]n response to the tragic accident in Epe where a Dangote Cement truck, reportedly suffering a brake failure, crashed into a local market, Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, has conveyed a heartfelt message of condolence to the community.Also read: Many dead in Lagos as Dangote Cement trailer crashes into Alapere market (Video)
The devastating accident claimed the lives of two young adults and a tricycle driver, leaving several others injured.
Wahab expressed deep sadness over the incident, recognising the significant loss for the families affected.
“I am deeply saddened by the tragic incident that occurred in our community, Epe, claiming the lives of two promising young adults, a dedicated tricycle driver, and leaving several others injured,” Mr. Wahab shared.
“This heartbreaking accident has left our hearts heavy as we mourn the loss of these young souls who were full of hope and dreams, and an industrious individual who worked tirelessly for his livelihood.”
The commissioner also extended his condolences to the families and friends impacted, emphasising that they are not alone in this time of grief.
“I can only imagine the pain you must feel, and I want you to know that you are not alone in this moment of grief,” he added.
In memory of the lives lost, Wahab called for heightened road safety awareness to prevent future tragedies.
“Let us honour the memories of these individuals by advocating for safety and awareness on our roads,” he urged.
“As we move forward, may we find comfort in community and strength in one another.”

The commissioner concluded his message by wishing peace for the departed souls and healing for their families.
