Kano State Governor presents a Bold Budget of N1.368 trillion, prioritising education, infrastructure, and health for sustainable growth
Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, presented a Bold Budget of N1,368,127,929,271 to the State House of Assembly on Wednesday, marking a historic milestone for the northern region.

According to the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, 68% of the allocations, equivalent to N934.6 billion, is earmarked for capital expenditure, while recurrent expenditure stands at N433.4 billion, representing 32%.
Analysts noted this as one of the highest capital-to-recurrent ratios in recent years.
Governor Yusuf said the distribution mirrors the administration’s development priorities.
Education leads with N405.3 billion (30%), followed by Infrastructure at N346.2 billion (25%) and Health at N212.2 billion (16%).
“These allocations demonstrate our unwavering determination to invest heavily in human capital development, safeguard the well-being of our people, and lay the physical foundation for sustainable growth,” he said.
Other sectors, including Agriculture, Security, Commerce, Water, Environment, Tourism, Women and Youth Development, and People With Special Needs, also received substantial provisions, highlighting the government’s holistic approach.
Describing the budget as “a bold but realistic roadmap,” Yusuf emphasised its goal to deliver tangible projects while reflecting citizens’ aspirations.
He urged lawmakers to grant timely passage, underlining that legislative oversight and partnership are key to transforming proposed allocations into real benefits for residents.
The presentation of the N1.368 trillion budget is historic, representing the largest capital outlay ever proposed by a northern Nigerian state.

On Monday, Governor Yusuf had announced his intention to submit the 2026 Appropriation Bill, with Speaker Jibril Falgore confirming its formal submission for consideration and approval in line with Section 121 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
