In a statement, Balami also extended condolences to those injured, lamenting that civilians going about their daily routines had become victims of terrorism.
Balami, who is also Chief Executive Officer of 7Star Global Hangar and former president of the National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE), urged President Bola Tinubu to remain resolute in combating insurgency nationwide.
Describing Governor Zulum as the “chief mourner,” Balami said, “Going by the personality of Governor Zulum, whom I know very well, one can only imagine how deeply troubled he is right now, having lost citizens of the state to some daredevil insurgents.”
He praised the governor for his continued collaboration with federal forces and the president, noting that recent attacks should be regarded as the “last kick of a dying horse.”
Balami added, “Our people are not oblivious of your antecedents in this regard. Most times, you fearlessly go to the enemy’s front to see things firsthand.
This shows leadership and commitment to governance.”
Balami also called on Borno residents to support security efforts by providing credible intelligence, stressing that safeguarding communities is a shared responsibility.
“Security is everybody’s business; hence, we must keep our ears to the ground and support our security forces with credible intelligence,” he said.
Reflecting on the state’s history, Balami recalled Maiduguri’s former reputation as a peaceful city and the University of Maiduguri’s role as a centre of academic excellence.
He expressed optimism that, with continued leadership and commitment to security, the state would regain its former stability and prosperity.
