Four women were abducted by gunmen along the Foropa waterways in Bayelsa State, prompting condemnation and calls for urgent security action
[dropcap]F[/dropcap]our women were kidnapped on Tuesday by gunmen who attacked a local boat conveying traders along the waterways of Foropa in the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

The attack occurred as the boat, carrying 12 women from the Swali Ultra-Modern Market jetty, was targeted, with all passengers being robbed of their money and valuables.
The abduction has sparked significant concern among traders who regularly use these waterways for transportation.
Selekaye Victor-Ben, a member of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly representing Southern Ijaw Constituency 4, has vehemently condemned the attack and called on the state government and security agencies to take immediate action to secure the release of the victims and enhance security in the area.
Victor-Ben described the abduction as a “cowardly attack on innocent citizens” and urged for swift and decisive action to apprehend the perpetrators and prevent future occurrences.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Bayelsa State Police Command, SP Musa Mohammed, stated that he had not yet been briefed on the incident when contacted.
