Federal College of Education Ilawe Ekiti matriculates 317 pioneer students, emphasizing discipline, innovation, and moral values for national development
In a powerful keynote lecture titled “Teacher Education and Nigeria’s National Development,”Prof. Femi Mimiko, former Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, urged the students to avoid “destiny-bursting pastimes” that could jeopardize their future.

Prof. Mimiko emphasized that teacher education is the bedrock of national growth and transformation, especially in an era where Artificial Intelligence increasingly impacts education.
He encouraged Nigeria to embrace innovation while maintaining strong moral values.
The Provost of the college, Prof. Ajigbade Ikuejube, congratulated the new students and charged them to maintain discipline, hard work, and moral uprightness.
He reiterated the institution’s mission to nurture competent teachers who will significantly contribute to Nigeria’s educational progress.
Mrs. Wuraola Garba, the Registrar, administered the matriculation oath, formally welcoming the students to the college community.
Community leaders, including the former Chairman of Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers, Oba Adebanji Alabi, praised the Federal Government for establishing the institution.
Oba Alabi highlighted how the college has created educational opportunities and jobs while promising continued community support.
He advised students to focus on their studies and avoid negative influences like cultism and drug addiction.
The event also featured distinguished guests such as the JAMB State Coordinator, Mr. Kayode Dada; Ekiti State House of Assembly representatives; and traditional rulers including Oba Adejimi Adu-Alagbado and Oba James Adelusi Aladesuru.
