The truck was recovered by operatives of the Awgu Division in the early hours of January 31, 2026, along Ndeagbor Road in Awgu community, Awgu Local Government Area.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, the recovery followed a swift response to an intelligence report indicating that the truck had been snatched from its driver at Ugwuashi-Uku, Delta State, on January 29, 2026.
SP Ndukwe stated, “On sighting the operatives, the criminal elements abandoned the truck and fled into a nearby forest. A manhunt for the suspects is ongoing, while the owner of the vehicle has been identified and investigations have commenced.”
The distance between Ugwuashi-Uku in Delta State and Awgu in Enugu State is approximately 150–180 kilometres, mainly via the Onitsha-Enugu Expressway.
Awgu’s undulating hills and dense vegetation reportedly helped the suspects evade immediate capture.
