The announcements were made on the floor of the House during the resumption of plenary on Tuesday.
The six members from Delta State, who were previously members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have now joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Leading the group is Nicholas Mutu (Bomadi), the Leader of the Southern regional caucus and the longest-serving member of the House, who has been a PDP member since 1999.
Other defecting members from Delta State include Nnamdi Ezechi (Ndokwa/Nkwuani), Jonathan Okodiko (Isoko), Thomas Eriyetomi (Warri), Julius Pondi (Burutu), and Victor Nwokolo (Ika North and South).
The defectors anchored their reasons for seeking fresh political platforms on the crises rocking their former parties across all levels.
Conversely, the two members from Enugu State, Mark Obetta (Nsukka/Igboeze South) and Dennis Agbo (Igbo Eze North/Udenu), have switched from the Labour Party (LP) to the PDP.
The defecting lawmakers cited ongoing crises within their former parties at all levels as the primary reason for their decision to seek new political platforms.
This development follows the recent defection of the Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, and former Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, from the PDP to the APC two weeks prior.
