Portable, known for his outspoken views, questioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s latest move against luxury real estate businessman Sujimoto, who is widely recognized for gifting homes to Nigerian celebrities.
The singer recalled receiving a house from Sujimoto himself and suggested that the entrepreneur’s generosity had also extended to others in the entertainment industry.
Speaking further, Portable compared the case to earlier high-profile declarations involving former Kogi State governor Yahaya Bello and ex-militant leader Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo.
He argued that despite those public notices, “we haven’t heard anything serious about it,” casting doubt on the EFCC’s ability to follow through on its wanted declarations.
Sujimoto, often described as one of Nigeria’s leading luxury property developers, built his reputation on upscale projects in Lagos and beyond.
His sudden entanglement with the EFCC has sparked mixed reactions, with some observers questioning the timing, while others call for transparency in the agency’s handling of corruption allegations.
