According to EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, the arrest was prompted by multiple petitions submitted to the anti-graft agency alleging cyberstalking by the influencer.
Speaking to BBC News Pidgin on Monday, Oyewale stated that VeryDarkMan was taken into custody to address these allegations from various petitioners.
He clarified that while the arrest followed these complaints, the petitions originated from different individuals, and the EFCC has a responsibility to protect all petitioners.
We arrested him to respond to a series of allegations raised against him by some petitioners,
Oyewale further explained that VeryDarkMan will be released once he meets the stipulated bail conditions.
The EFCC is currently preparing to arraign the social media activist in court as soon as possible, emphasizing their commitment to due process and the rule of law.
When questioned about a potential connection between the arrest and Guaranty Trust Bank, Oyewale indicated that the petitions received by the EFCC were from various individuals and not solely related to the financial institution.
