Speaking during the Ohanivo 2025 New Yam Festival in Onicha LGA, Ebonyi State, the former governor of Ebonyi said 2027 is not the turn of the Southeast, but vowed to contest when the time comes.
Umahi promised to highlight the projects President Bola Tinubu has used him to execute in the Southeast. “It’s not our turn.
When it’s our turn for the presidency, who is more qualified than me? When the time comes, I will tell you what the president has used me to do in the Southeast and let Igbos be the judge,” he said.
The minister’s remarks echo his 2022 declaration to run for the 2023 presidency, which followed consultations with the late former President Muhammadu Buhari and President Tinubu.
At that time, Umahi stated that God had informed him of his presidential ambition.
