[dropcap]F[/dropcap]ormer President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his satisfaction with the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s success in Saturday’s governorship election in Ondo State, which saw Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa secure a second term.
In a statement released on Sunday by his spokesperson, Garba Shehu, Buhari praised the electorate for delivering a clear and decisive mandate to the APC.

“The voters have spoken lucidly and loudly, demonstrating their confidence in both the party and the governor,” the former president noted.
Buhari emphasised that the outcome of the election highlights the resilience of Nigeria’s democracy, despite the nation’s vast and diverse population.
He called on Aiyedatiwa to prioritise economic growth, tackle unemployment and inflation, and implement welfare programmes to improve the lives of Ondo State residents.
“The election result is not just a testament to the strength of democracy but also a challenge for the Governor-elect to deliver policies that uplift the people,” Buhari remarked.
He also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and law enforcement agencies for addressing previous election shortcomings, ensuring a smoother and more credible process.
While congratulating Aiyedatiwa and his team, Buhari urged all stakeholders to respect the will of the people as expressed through the ballot box.
The election has stirred mixed reactions, with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) rejecting the results and raising allegations of electoral fraud, which the APC has dismissed.
However, Buhari’s endorsement of the process underscores his belief in the democratic progress achieved in the country.
Buhari wished Aiyedatiwa a successful tenure, urging him to justify the trust reposed in him by the voters.
