The South-South derby is expected to set the tone for a season featuring 20 topflight clubs across two groups.
Bayelsa Queens, who dominated last season’s Super Six to claim the league crown, have historically held the advantage over Edo Queens, winning four of their last seven meetings.
Edo’s only victory in the 1–0 win during the 2025 Super Six remains the solitary blemish on Bayelsa’s near-perfect record.
Both sides enter the new season with experienced squads, including national team players, creating a high-stakes clash that could signal early title favourites.
In other Group A fixtures, Adamawa Queens will host Pacesetter Queens in Makwada, while Heartland Queens face Ekiti Queens in Owerri.
Naija Ratels will take on Ibom Angels in Abuja.
The scheduled match between Castmog Ladies and Rivers Angels in Abeokuta has been cancelled following Castmog’s relegation and Rivers’ subsequent bye.
Group B action features Nasarawa Amazons against Delta Queens in Lafia, with Confluence Queens facing Abia Angels in Iyamho.
Sunshine Queens meet Robo Queens in Akure, debutants Ahudiyannem Queens take on Remo Stars Ladies in Abiriba, and Dannaz Ladies host newly promoted Osun Babes in Lagos.
