The arrest was confirmed in a press statement released on Friday by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ahmed Wakil.

According to Wakil, the Bauchi State Police Command received a formal complaint on April 3, 2025, from Abdullahi Baban Karatu, 55, also residing in Kurmin Ado village.

The complaint, lodged through the Ganjuwa Divisional headquarters, accused Sule of engaging in sexual intercourse with his 17-year-old daughter (whose name has been withheld) on multiple occasions within their family home.

The alleged incidents reportedly occurred around 9:00 PM in November 2024 while the victim’s mother was away visiting her parents in Burra village, Ningi Local Government Area.

Wakil stated that upon receiving the serious allegations, a team of experienced detectives was immediately assigned to conduct a thorough and discreet investigation, leading to the swift arrest of the accused.

The PPRO further disclosed that during the subsequent interrogation, the suspect, Umar Sule, willingly confessed to the alleged crimes.

He admitted to repeatedly molesting his daughter, which, according to a medical examination, resulted in her being three months pregnant.

The victim’s account corroborated her father’s confession. She confirmed that the incidents occurred when her mother was away, and upon her mother’s return and discovery of the pregnancy, she identified her father as responsible.
