The intervention followed Osas’ invitation by the Nigerian Police Force’s National Cyber Crime Centre in Abuja over a video posted on December 15, 2025, which falsely suggested 12 banks were shutting down due to recapitalisation requirements.
In a formal apology video, Osas clarified, “I would like to offer an official retraction of that video and want to reiterate that no bank is shutting down. Most banks have now met the ₦500 billion minimum capital base for international banks and ₦200 billion for national banks. I want to specifically appreciate ACAMB. They were very professional in handling this case and enlightened me on the recapitalisation process.”
ACAMB President Jide Sipe highlighted the Association’s commitment to protecting the integrity of Nigeria’s banking sector.
“ACAMB stands for the restoration of professional banking ethics and public confidence through seamless information management and public enlightenment. By engaging Unofficial Osas, we ensured accurate information regarding the resilience and strength of our banks was disseminated to millions of Nigerians.”
