Dapo Abiodun appropriating FG roads claims emerge after Ogun governor commissioned Laderin Train Station Road, allegedly built and funded by the Federal Government

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has come under criticism following claims that a federally funded road project was presented as a state government achievement during a commissioning ceremony in Abeokuta.

The controversy centres on the Laderin Train Station Road, which was commissioned on Monday by the governor.

Critics argue that the road was constructed by the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and fully captured in the federal appropriation, with contracts awarded and paid for by the centre.

According to the claims, federal signposts identifying the project were removed ahead of the commissioning, and no reference was made to President Tinubu or the Federal Government during the ceremony.

Instead, the project was reportedly presented as having been executed by the Ogun State Government.

Those raising the concerns allege that the incident reflects a deliberate attempt to downplay federal contributions to infrastructure development in Ogun State.

They accuse Governor Abiodun of seeking to prevent public acknowledgement of the President’s efforts within the state.

The Abiodun Appropriating FG Roads claims have also been extended to other projects. Critics point to the Bible College Road in the Sango Ota area, near the toll gate, which they say is another federal road awarded for construction by the Federal Government but later included in the Ogun State Government budget.

According to the allegations, funds were appropriated at the state level for a project already financed by the Federal Government, raising questions about transparency and accountability. No official documentation has yet been made public to substantiate these claims.

As of the time of filing this report, the Ogun State Government has not issued a formal response addressing the allegations or clarifying the funding sources for the projects mentioned.

The development has renewed calls from residents and political observers for clearer attribution of public infrastructure projects and greater transparency in intergovernmental collaboration.

They argue that proper recognition of funding sources is essential to public trust and democratic accountability.

Observers note that infrastructure delivery often involves overlapping responsibilities between federal and state authorities, making clear communication crucial to avoid public confusion and political friction.
